Games I Like! - Vampire Survivor
by Sasuke! =D
Hi everyone! How are you
all doing? I’m great! I’ve been playing a lot of Vampire Survivor lately
and it’s a ton of fun. It’s kinda like a bullet hell shoot ‘em up except
my arm isn’t sore after! I like those games but it’s so tiring hitting the
fire button over and over all BopBopBopBopBop! Sometimes Shibao and Anzu
help me by bopping the fire button as fast as they can while I just move
the ship around but even that can be stressful because we all start
panicking when a bunch of bullets come at us at once and it’s hard to
dodge out of the way. What I really like about Vampire Survivor is it gets
rid of all that. I can just focus on moving around and my character shoots
stuff on their own. It’s super convenient!
You only start with one
hero but there is a TON of stuff to unlock. It took me a while to decide
who I want to play as mostly but now I’m all about Mortaccio (He's a
skeleton!). The first
time I tried him I almost gave up right away. All he did was randomly
throw a bone and it took so long for him to throw another! It didn’t make
any sense! I was just walking around, trying not to get hit by monsters
and collect gems that they drop when they die (you need these to level up,
by the way!). Eventually I got some other stuff every time I levelled up
like a cross that blasts monsters in the face, and axes that bonk them
too. I also got garlic, which is my favorite weapon. It makes an aura
around you that hurts baddies. It can even upgrade to something called
Soul Eater that really kills monsters fast and heals your hero too. It’s
death by stinky breath and its amazing. Anzu gets mad at me when my breath
is stinky in real life and makes me brush my teeth but here I can be as
stinky as I want to be and it’s making the world a safer place too!
So, the first little bit
with Mortaccio was tough because I couldn’t really shoot much and
everything felt really slow. It was a little bit stressful too because you
mostly get new weapons or upgrade ones you have when you level up. Even
then, you have to hope that the game likes you or you might wind up with a
bunch random stuff that isn’t very helpful and the monsters still take a
long time to die. I think the game was in a good mood this time, though,
because it gave me that garlic. I could almost stand still and let the
monsters just walk into it and die! It helped so much. Eventually I was
able to level up a bit more and get better weapons. The monsters were
dying faster and faster and Mortaccio was levelling up more and more.
There were even boss
monsters coming to fight me eventually. I could tell they were bosses
because they were bigger than the others and took a lot of bops before
they died. They even drop treasure chests with gold in them that you use
to unlock things and they also give you ability upgrades for stuff you
chose while levelling up. I really don’t understand these chests, though.
I was being chased by this really big werewolf and it took forever to die.
Eventually it did and dropped a chest. I went to get it and all it gave me
was around 100 gold and upgraded my axes so that they hit a couple more
monsters. I shouted, “What the heck?!?!?”
I always thought big
monsters = super cool loot! Did I make the game angry? Should I have
shared my cookies with it? Later on I killed a tiny boss that I could only
tell was a boss because it was glowing blue. That treasure chest gave me
400 gold and three weapon upgrades. Was the game happy that I put a cookie
next to the console? There were other times I left a whole box of cookies
next to the console and the game was really mean to me and kept giving me
hardly any loot from the chests, or I’d forget to bring cookies and it was
really nice to me for some reason. I don’t understand.
I also don’t give up,
though, because when the game is super nice to you and gives lots of loot
your character can get super strong. Eventually the screen is full of
monsters trying to get you and you’re blasting stuff all over the place
destroying everything. You turn into a blender then march around and feel
unstoppable. A lot of the levels are about trying to survive for 30
minutes and later on as time is running out there is a crazy amount of
monsters coming at you. The only tricky part here is that you’re
invincible until you’re not invincible. I’ve had a few times where I was
melting the whole screen but as time ran out and there was only a couple
of minutes left there were just too many monsters. I tried wiggling and
jiggling as much as I could trying not to get hit but it wasn’t enough. My
shields ran out, my armor wasn’t enough, I couldn’t kill them fast enough.
I couldn’t become one with the blender, then with 30 seconds left my
character dies. I feel a bit sad, then, but usually I wind up unlocking
some stuff and have a ton of gold after, so I can get stronger and might
have some new heroes to play as. That’s more than enough to make me want
to play again.
Oh, did I mention that the game isn’t too scary
even though there are tons of monsters in it? I was a bit worried about
this but there were lots of really simple skeletons, bats, ghosts,
werewolves and other monsters but they didn’t bother me at all. Anzu lent
me one of her blankies to hide under while I played “Just in case!” but I
didn’t need to use it even once!
This is definitely a
really fun game and a much easier way to play bullet hell games without
becoming exhausted. You just have to wiggle and jiggle around the baddies
and hopefully get good abilities as you level up. If you have trouble
getting good power ups you have to play extra smart to try and survive but
usually the monsters will get you eventually. Other times you might get
tons of great power ups and become one with the blender. I really like
that and it totally makes me want to come back and play some more.
